PS5 Pro Pre-Orders Exclusively Available on PS Direct for Two Weeks

1 min read

Sony has introduced an important update regarding the pre-order process for its highly anticipated PlayStation 5 Pro. According to a last-minute adjustment on the PlayStation Blog, pre-orders for the new console will initially be available exclusively through PS Direct, Sony’s direct-to-consumer online store. This temporary exclusivity will last for two weeks, beginning on 26th September and continuing until 10th October. After this period, major retailers such as Amazon will also open pre-orders for the system.

However, it’s essential to note that this exclusivity applies only to regions where PS Direct is operational. If you reside in a country where PS Direct is unavailable, you will still be able to pre-order the PS5 Pro from participating retailers starting on 26th September. Countries included in the PS Direct service are the USA, the UK, Germany, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, and others.

This strategy aligns with Sony’s increasing focus on driving customers to its own platform for purchases. While this approach gives Sony more direct control over sales, it may pose some challenges for customers seeking trade-in deals or other incentives typically offered by third-party retailers. These customers might have to wait until the exclusivity period ends, which carries the potential risk of the console selling out before then. Although this decision adds some complexity to an otherwise straightforward pre-order process, Sony has ensured that the information is available in advance to prepare potential buyers.
