A Royal Retreat in Bhopal: Atmosphere Core Opens First Heritage By Property in India

3 min read

Atmosphere Core, a renowned hospitality brand in South Asia, has officially made its debut in India with the launch of Sadar Manzil Heritage by Atmosphere, a luxury hotel located in Bhopal. This 22-room, all-vegetarian, couples-only retreat marks a significant milestone as the company brings its acclaimed “Joy of Giving” philosophy—originally popularised in the Maldives—to the very heart of Madhya Pradesh.

This elegant heritage property is a remarkable fusion of royal history and modern indulgence. Nestled between the old and new quarters of Bhopal, Sadar Manzil Heritage by Atmosphere occupies a landmark 19th-century building that once served as the Durbar Hall. In its heyday, this majestic venue was the site where Begums and Nawabs of Bhopal held court, made decisions of political importance, and celebrated grand occasions. Now, after meticulous restoration, it has been transformed into an intimate haven for couples, offering timeless charm with refined contemporary comforts.

The hotel features 22 meticulously designed rooms and suites, each styled with vintage furniture and finished in opulent hues of turquoise and cream. Guests are welcomed with a sophisticated hospitality experience, starting from a traditional welcome at the airport, a private car tour through Bhopal, and a grand rose petal reception upon arrival at the hotel.

Speaking about the launch, Salil Panigrahi, Managing Director of Atmosphere Core, shared, “Our extensive experience in the Maldives naturally guided our expansion into India. The consistent growth of tourism here made it the perfect moment to introduce our ‘Joy of Giving’ concept. Sadar Manzil, being our first heritage property, holds a very special place in my heart.”

The hotel has also brought the brand’s signature Holiday Plan to India, renamed here as the Begum’s Plan. This all-inclusive offering is tailored to provide a royal experience: luxury accommodations, airport transfers, gourmet vegetarian breakfast and dinner, unlimited premium beverages and wine, live music and dance performances, a champagne city tour, curated minibar, and rejuvenating spa treatments based on the length of stay.

In addition, guests can enjoy the Ayurvedic-inspired ELE|NA Spa, a well-stocked library, a modern fitness centre, and a serene swimming pool—all thoughtfully designed to elevate the stay.

Culinary experiences at Sadar Manzil Heritage by Atmosphere are crafted with a strong vegetarian philosophy. The all-day dining restaurant, Diwan-E-Khas, located beneath resplendent frescoed ceilings, serves an array of gourmet vegetarian dishes inspired by global cuisines. This was once the very space where royal audiences took place. For a more relaxed yet charming setting, guests can dine under the stars at the Charbagh Courtyard, which offers a selection of both local and international vegetarian delicacies in an ambiance reminiscent of regal days.

For those seeking refined indulgence, the wine cellar Maikhana and the tastefully designed Madhushala Bar promise an elegant evening experience.

Commenting on the distinctiveness of the property, Mr. Souvagya Mohapatra, Managing Director of Atmosphere Core for India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and Bhutan, noted, “What sets Sadar Manzil apart is not just its heritage and hospitality, but also our all-women service team. Their grace and professionalism will undoubtedly leave a lasting impression on every guest.”

With this launch, Atmosphere Core not only brings a piece of royal history back to life but also introduces a fresh standard of luxury hospitality in India—one rooted in elegance, authenticity, and heartfelt generosity.
