Chief Minister of Goa Manohar Parrikar has informed today that the casino vessel washed ashore on Miramar beach has developed a hole and needs to be repaired. The vessel has been grounded since July 16 and efforts to re-float it so far have not succeeded.
The Casino vessel MV Lucky 7 was being moved to the River Mandovi from Mormugao Port Trust (MPT) when a rope attached to its tug broke and the vessel was stranded on the Aguada sand bar. Eventually the vessel washed ashore on the Miramar beach.
Parrikar informed the vessel has developed a hole. “If you try to take it without repairing it, it will sink 200-300 metres away from the point (shore),” he was quoted by PTI.
The CM has said that all factors will be taken into consideration before the vessel is shifted away from the shore.”It is at the shore right now due to technical reason. After removing it has to float for 10-12 hours to take it for repairs,” he said.
