Goa Police to Crackdown on Beach Drinking

In a public meeting organised by Calangute Police Station, North Goa SP Karthik Kashyap assured the locals that he has sent out clear orders to all the police station in state to arrest the persons involved in drinking on beach. SP Kashyap also called upon general public to report about such Incidents. Around 60-70 people attended the meeting which included member of shack owners, prominent citizens and hoteliers.

The public gathered at the meet raised several important issues. The shack owners highlighted the problem faced by them regarding some tourists drinking on the beach at the night time and throwing the bottles/cans on the beach which is hazardous and dangerous to the general public.

Taking cognizance of the issue, Superintendent of Police Karthik Kashyap assured the Shack Owners that he has given clear instructions to arrest the individual or group found drinking in open place u/s 34 of Indian Police Act. Kashyap also called upon the general public to report to nearest police station if such incidents are carried out.

Highlighting the pro-active role of Goa Police Jivba Dalvi, Police Inspector informed that, “We have done pro-active policing within the span of four months from which two months were utilised to handle law and order issue in view of Assembly Elections, we have booked four cases of Drugs under NDPS Act and busted three prostitution racket wherein we were successful in rescuing eight victims from prostitution racket.”

The Superintendent of Police Shri. Karthik Kashyap assured the public to fulfil their grievances raised during the Calangute meeting and to maintain police – public friendly relations. The people gathered gave their satisfaction on a working of Calangute Police and hoped that such meetings will be organised periodically.
