Goa has come out of an assembly election just a few months ago, the Goa Forward Party (GFP) is already preparing to move into the assembly contituencies held by Congress in the state.

GFP plans to woo the party workers and office bearers of Congress into it’s fold. The regional outfit plans to hold closed-door meetings and corner meetings to convince the voters and grassroots leaders to join GFP.

The party spokesperson has informed that besides the councillors from municipal bodies, panchayat members from St Cruz, Panchawadi and Ponda are already in talks to join the party.

“Party president Vijai Sardesai has made it clear that he would be directing office bearers and his ministers to start visiting and spreading the party’s ideology in other constituencies, without disturbing the constituencies whose representatives are part of the coalition government,” chief spokesperson for the Goa Forward party, Trajano D’Mello told ToI.

D’Mello further informed that the GFP will begin it’s grassroot development programme in the next two days. He also mentioned that the party will not contest the upcoming Lok Sabha election in 2019.

GFP is currently a part of the ruling coalition with the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) and Maharastrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP) and independent MLAs.
