Goa Fisheries Minister Vinod Palyekar has claimed that he maybe targeted with sex scandal by the drug mafia after taking a strong stance against them. This comes after an activist alleged that a video footage of the minister in a compromised position has surfaced.
Lawyer-activist Aires Rodrigues has alleged that a video footage of the minister in a compromising position with a woman from his constituency has surfaced and he intends to submit it to Governor Mridula Sinha.
The Minister has called it a smear campaign by the drug mafia against him after he had targeted them in the recent months.
“If he (Rodrigues) says there is a CD, ask him for details. I do not know what to say? He has neither called me nor spoken to me. It is a public campaign. I believe this is happening because of my uncompromising stand and actions against the drug mafia,” Palienkar said speaking to reporters.
The Goa Forward party has backed Palyekar over the controversy, “My party president has already said the activist could be doing this on behalf of somebody in the drug mafia because of late he (Palienkar) has ruffled so many feathers of those in narcotics trafficking,” chief spokesperson of the regional party Trajano D’Mello told IANS.
Activist Rodrigues has said that he would be providing complete details of the matter once Governor Sinha returns to Goa later this week. “An appointment has been sought with the Goa Governor Mridula Sinha to place before her complete details…” Rodrigues said.
