Ranked at the top of the list amongst the best small states in India, Goa is the recipient of the annual award presented by India Today magazine. The small state placed first among the small states of India in health and infrastructure sectors; placing second in economy and inclusive development, and in the categories of environment, education, agriculture and e-governance Goa was listed at third place.
As compared to the 2015 ranking, Goa has retained or improved in all categories except e-governance.
Praising Goa’s achievements to reporters, Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar informed that Goa has lowest infant mortality rate, highest number of doctors’ population ratio and highest bank population ratio with 95% of Goa’s population linked with tar road connectivity.
Parsekar said, while crediting his government on the accolade, that the DDSSY scheme in health sector is a unique scheme in the country.
Sharing his joy in the overwhelming response received during the ceremony held on Friday evening, he said that Goa is now a brand.
“We have successfully hosted Lusofonia Games, Exposition, Defence Expo and BRICS Summit in last three years. There is an ample scope for further excellence and there are many expectations from Goa,” Parsekar said.
Congratulating the BJP-led government under Laxmikant Parsekar’s leadersip, Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar and AYUSH Minister Shripad Naik forwarded their compliments.
The Chief Minister in return said that the two ministers had a contributed in making it the number one state as they, being at the Centre, delivered couple of projects for Goa.
