GFP has opened its doors for Congress members

A Goa Forward Party (GFP) spokesperson has invited disgruntled Congress Party members to join the GFP. The development comes after the party was seen wooing Trajano D’Mello, after he was suspended from the Congress party for six years.

“Trajano D’Mello gets debarred from Congress for six years because he spoke the truth. He took up two major issues; Serula comunidade and the EDM festivals in Goa and took them to their logical conclusion. Digvijay Singh has also been removed as the Goa in- charge as he was one of the votaries of a pre-poll alliance with Goa Forward. We call all such people, who have been removed from their posts to join our ranks,” GFP spokesperson Prashant Naik was quoted by ToI.

However, Naik mentioned that the Congress were not sent any formal communication by the party.

It may be recalled that GFP leaders Vijay Sardesai and Durgadas Kamat had been part of the Congress party earlier.

Sardesai left the Congress in 2012 after being denied the party ticket to contest the 2012 Goa assembly election from Fatorda. While, Kamat was removed from Congress in 2014 after his comments on ‘dynastic politics’ in the party.
