Babush Monseratte to Fight on Congress Ticket from Panaji, says Confident of Defeating CM Parrikar


Goa Pradesh Congress Committee has put all of their strength to rope in Atanasio ‘Babush’ Monseratte to fight the by polls against CM Manohar Parrikar in the capital city Panaji. Babush has also dropped plans of contesting from his previous constituency, St. Cruz.

Congress had earlier expelled Babush Monseratte for openly supporting BJP in the Panaji by poll in 2015. Expulsion period was for 6 years. Current desk-in Charge of Congress, Chellakumar had indicated that Babush’s expulsion will be revoked if he contests from Panaji constituency against Parrikar. “BJP formed Govt by hijacking people’s mandate,” Chellakumar told pressmen.

Babush Monseratte has revealed that he’s confident of defeating CM Parrikar in Panjim. Also shown willingness on fighting on Congress Ticket. On the other side, CM Manohar Parrikar has shown his optimism in winning by improving his winning margin. Parrikar refused to comment on the speculations that some of the Congress MLAs are willing to join BJP to be in Power.

Congress eyes to reclaim Valpoi along with Panaji. Party has also informed that, Pratapsingh Rane will campaign against Junior Rane in the upcoming by polls in Valpoi. The decision to give Congress ticket to Babush was taken during the 14 member Goa MLA delegation headed by Congress desk-in-charge met Babush Monseratte in Panaji. By poll elections are likely to be held after Ganesh Chaturti festival.
