Application Form For Temporary Shacks Available

After a hold up in providing registration forms for erecting shacks due to the delay in the approval of the new Beach Shack Policy, the Tourism Department on Wednesday, finally invited applications from individuals to erect temporary shacks that will be eligible for three years. The delay was caused mainly due to the absence of a proper Goa Coastal Zone Management Authority (GCZMA), which will be notified this week.

In the meanwhile, the Department of Tourism has decided to set up 259 shacks along North Goa and 108 shacks on South Goa beaches. However, the allotment of shacks will be made on the condition that the GCZMA approves it.

Furthermore a classification of the beaches has been made into category ‘A’ and ‘B’ by the Tourism Department. Shacks under category ‘A’ will have to pay for the first year Rs 45,000, for the second year Rs. 50,000 and Rs 55,000 for the third year. Under category ‘B’, Rs 30,000 for the first year, Rs 35,000 for the second and Rs 40,000 for the third year will have to be paid.

North Goa
Calangute, Candolim

South Goa
Majorda, Colva, Lounginhos (Colva), Colmar (Colva), Benaulim, Calvaddo, Varca, Fatrade (Varca), Mobor (Cavelossim) and Khandivaddo (Cavelossim).

Category B

North Goa
Keri, Arambol, Mandrem, Morjim, Ozrant, Anjuna, Vagator, Siridao, Chapora

South Goa
Velsao, Arrosim, Utorda, Thonvaddo (Betalbatim), Ranvaddo (Betalbatim), Sunset Beach (Betalbatim), Ghortsua Betalbatim, Sernabatim (Colva), Velludo (Benaulim), Zalor, Palolem, Baina and Bogmalo.

Payment of the first year of the annual fee shall be paid along with the application and the second and third annual fee shall be paid latest by September 15 of the respective years that is 2017-18 and 2018-19. According to the conditions, if the annual fee is not paid, the applicant will not be allowed to erect the shack on the allotted location, and if it is found that a shack allottee has erected the beach shack without payment of the annual fees by September 15 of the respective year, the beach shack will be demolished without any notice and security deposit shall be forfeited to the government treasury.
